The ban doesn't ever go away, it just becomes hidden from your profile. It's still there.

you misread. the vacban disappear from other users from seeing it, but you will continue seeing the ban
Example: your ban is hidden from anyone from seeing it, but there are ways of seeing it. Like i can see, by using and external website, your ban is 1930 days old. Also if you have a gameban then the bans will continue showing to everybody

I can't tell if Valve silently reduces the time for the red ban notice to disappear to 6 years or am I just seeing text illusion...
