VAC bans are delayed from the time of the detection to the time that the ban is actually applied. What you were doing when the ban was applied, is irrelevant.

Why the account was banned:

all VAC bans come from the detection of a known cheat, whether it is used on the account itself or some sort of sharing has occurred (account, library, or phone number).

Users are responsible for the security of the account and all activity on the account.

How this works is all VAC bans get automatically checked for accuracy. There's no need to write to Support because they can't do anything about them, nor can anyone here.

See that little info link right beside the ban notice on your profile? You've had years to click on it. You should click on it and read the information. It tells you that Steam Support cannot remove VAC bans.

vacbans are for cheating and your account was caught out cheating. If it was a mistake, then it would have been removed automatically years ago.
