If you have access to the account
Steps to take NOW to secure the account:
1. Scan for malware https://www.malwarebytes.com/
2. Deauthorize all other devices https://steamhost.cn/twofactor/manage
3. Change passwords from a clean computer
4. Generate new backup codes for your Mobile App https://steamhost.cn/twofactor/manage
5. Revoke the API key https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/dev/apikey (there should be nothing in the APIKEY)
6. If points were stolen, do a password RESET to cancel the awards/points before they are delivered
Please review how you are logging into Steam or handling your log in information. You somehow gave them your log in information. This could of been due to the computer being compromised and redirecting to a fake login, or you using a 3rd party site to login to steam.
After you have secured the account, please edit your profile back to normal by hitting the EDIT PROFILE button if it was altered by the hijacker/scammer. Report any accounts involved if possible.
Steam support does not post messages on your profile, they don't give out warnings about pending bans, they dont give time to move stuff, they wont tell you to move stuff. Someone has enough access to the account to make changes to the profile. If you try to move any items, the trade will get cancelled and a new one created sending the items to the scammers accounts.
They do not change your name/avatar unless it violates the rules (advertising, inappropriate language, etc). Such a change would only reset it to the default settings (your steam ID for the name, the default ? avatar for the avatar). This would include an account alert that you have to click a box that says "I have read this"
Reported for impersonating staff, get a life....
They do not work for Valve, pay no attention to them. I've reported them for impersonating staff
real bans will appear in red text on your profile, on the RIGHT side of it
do not attempt to redeem that $50 giftcard
do not vote for someones team
don't use 3rd party trading sites
accounts are phished, not hacked, you gave away your account credentials somewhere
scam 101 and people still fall for it. Let us guess, someone also most likely said that they false reported your profile, and the ban was written just below your profile name right and/or most likely also contacted you on discord, meaning your account is compromised and the items you traded away, you traded it with someone else and not your brother.
Even i know, if you had a gameban or a vacban, it will appear in red on the right side of your profile with a "info" button next to it and days since last ban below it. steam support and valve will not use their steam profiles to contact you, the only way to contact steam support is through proper channels and even then, bans cannot be removed by anyone, including steam support. Also anyone can put "Valve employee" on their profiles.best to do all the steps in post 5, not one or two steps, all of it, and if you did trade the items, then the items are permanently gone and cannot be returned or reimbursed
