I was playing on GameNet when it suddenly exited the game and gave me an error that prevented me from playing again.

ok so its then most likely disconnected by vac message you got then.

Next time when something like a disconnect happens again, check your profile first to see if it actually has a red vac ban text on it... If not, then you're not banned...
