I got into raw first and still never got into the blackened stuff I think it's just a random thing.

that's true. I started with early Cradle of Filth and then moved on to Dimmu Borgir. From there I moved to the harsher stuff like Darkthrone and Burzum when I developed the ear for it. No joke but now I listen to static noise and ritual rhythmic sounds.

That is true yes. I remember I started with Dark Funeral and Behemoth (I know, more like blackened death). Though I would say, most people who would start listening to black metal already listen to other subgenres of metal, so they are probably used to the rougher kind of music.

I would say listen to Dimmu Borgir instead if you want to try black metal. It's more palatable for new comers to the genre. I notice symphonic black metal overall is more palatable for newbies. Stay away from raw black metal as since your ears may not be accustomed to them.
