import export options not listed even under the space bar options
Im on windows 10, trying to import an SMD file, eventually I will need to export it too. but even though I have the tools exactly as the instructions say to have them, and on blender 2.76, not showing up. none of the others listed in these tools are there either. do I need a different version of tools? this is a sims 2 project. so I did find them sort of. I had to check the box next to blender source tools, but now when I load up blender I get a horrible library error also when I use the import it imports nothing. guess I will have to uninstall blender and reinstall just to get rid of it. I must need an earlier version of the tools, I just dont know which one for my version of blender. it would help if they were labeled to show what blender they work with.

I know this comment is pretty much the opposite of what you're looking for with this thread, but... Why are you not just using the latest version of Blender?

What version of Blender Source Tools are you using in 2.76? Although the newest version says it works in Blender 2.74 or later, go here and try earlier versions. http://steamreview.org/BlenderSourceTools/archives/
But before you do that, go to the UserPref addons screen, filter for Blender Source tools and make sure you have the add on checked on. If the addon is greyed out and there isn't a check mark in the check box, it's off and will not display.

Proper way to install Blender Source tools...

Sims 2 is an older game that is no longer supported, its not meant for windows 10 at all, but I managed to get it to work, not so much when it comes to the modding tools. most recommend blender 2.49b which is pretty much bare bones, 2.76 is recommended for sims4 which I also have. but I rather mod sims 2 since they no longer make games for it, I can change everything without having to keep going back in and redo with every update. I did have the box checked. thats when the library error started. I have not figured out how to remove the add on so I will just ininstall and reinstall the newest version try it, if it don't work try 2.76 again but a different older set of tools. fyi the scripts for 2.49b dont work anymore, they were made over 10 years ago.

well I installed the latest version of blender, as I suspected it doesn't load smd. seems all the presets push the other versions first so smd is ignored. it imports blank scenes not meshes or bones. the object I imported is not a scene. it should be loading as a shape. but it isn't. I dont use any of the other tools too bad I cant disable all but smd. so I guess its back to wavefront obj. and no animations. either that or I have to put milkshape back on my pc. urgh. I hate milkshape the screens are too small to line up anything correctly. and importing and exporting from it always screws up the bone assignments.

I put 2.76 back on my pc, it doesn't let you download older versions of tools, the links all go back to the main new download. I dont know anyone still writing scripts for blender and simpe, the original smd importer exporter is located here {LINK REMOVED} but is not compatable with newer versions of blender... it would really be helpful if your smd tools could do what these did and be compatable with newer versions of blender.
the object wavefront tool in simpe doesn't work for me either, it exports it as maya, and will not import from blender. I dont have maya. basically I need to import the the mesh, make changes, export, import back in to simpe and overide the original. then I have to add the object back into blender and pull the animations, change them in blender to go with the new object using the object as a guide then import the animations seperately because its a sim using the object. the object doesn't move. the sim does.

Please upload one of the files you are trying to import.
