I can't texture faces I add to an original goldsrc model.
I've come a long way in getting things to work. However, I'm decompiling the Half-Life weapon models, and needing to add to the meshes, and texture the new faces. However, no matter what I do, they just come back black. I'm using textures already included in the model. They appear fine in blender, but after compiling them the're black.

Thanks for any help!

Could be a number of things. What are you using to decompile? I suspect something is going wrong with the UV's. What are you using to compile as well?

First, thanks for responding!!

I've tried a couple different ways to decompoile and compile with the same. I think the problem is the new polys don't have a texture attached to them? So to add stuff, for now, I've been COPYING polys that are of the same texture file UV and that works. It would be nice if I could ADD new polys or even new UVs and the MDLs still work in HL.

You know how texture/material assigning works correct? also you must have .bmp in the material name too. Example at top of this image: http://www.the303.org/tutorials/goldbrightimages/glo08.jpg

I do not, lol. I'll google material assigning, that sounds like the missing piece. ~Cheers!!
