Replacing/Merging the valve skeleton onto a ported model
When I look at all the ported models in the Gmod workshop, extract the contents from them, and decompile the models, I compared it to the original ported model. How were they able to keep the same exact vertex group, with the same weight paint information?

Oh, I don't know if I should be asking this group, or the blender tutorial community, because it seems like it is dead.

Vertex Groups are just kept. There is a trick, you can just change armature of model to Valve's one and re-name respective vertex groups to Valve's armature bones, though the result might be not so perfect.

ah, i want to know if there is like a plugin for this where after i join the two armatures, I can align the valve skeleton to the old skeleton and rename the bones at the same time
