Using Paintable Cosmetics In Blender
In source games, the vmt files control the tf2 paint (I think), and colour paintable cosmetics the default colour, or the applied paint type. The problem is, Blender doesn't support this, so it always shows the black/white base colour of the texture. I could use mix shaders, but that ends up looking kinda wack, and I can't just make my renders in SFM due to VALVe's hate for Intel. Anybody have a possible fix or addon for this?

Try using a MixRGB node with the mode set to multiply instead. If the item has a tint mask (usually in the base alpha), plug that into the factor input.
I actually just ended up using source.io to import the mdl file rather than working off of qc and smd files from crowbar.
It fixes a bunch of the issues, including the pixelated bump maps, and especially the painted cosmetics.
Thanks for the advice anyway
