Split groups (smooth groups/ V-groups etc.) + face triangulation problems
Hey, Tom!

Thank you a lot for SMD tool, you are truly the one who make workshop so big.

But tool need some fixes:

1) Split groups while importing objects in blender disappears. I mean, any vertex which lay in exact same position as other - merges in one vertex (this creates problems, when we are using split/smooth groups instead of normal map)

2) Triangulation. It is not really a problem, but sometimes It is good to have quads instead of tris.

3) Also I found new bone "blender_implicit" after exporting mesh with armature. In dota2 we have limitations on bones count, for courier it is 52, so one more bone is really bad for exporting.

p.s. I don't know is this a bug or not, so I put my discussion in "bug reports"

Hi, and thanks!

The answer to 1 & 2 is to use DMX, which isn't affected by either issue. SMD is a very old format and it shows in some areas.

For 3, that bone won't be compiled into the model unless there are unweighted vertices. Have you confirmed that it's actually causing a problem?
