sdk model viewer
Hello,
So the model view does not open, it says unable to load manifest text file. It would be easy enough just to work around this problem by using the model viewer in the beta importer, except for the fact that i am making a weapon. I need the model viewer to make backpack icons. Does anybody know how to fix the model viewer or alternative solutions. If worse comes to worse can I just use a rendered image from blender instead of the model viewer? Thanks for any help offered.

Or you can use the "new" TF2 SDK:

-Navigate to your /Steam/SteamApps/common/Team Fortress 2/bin/ folder
-Find the batch file titled "hlmv.bat" and open this file
-TF2-specific source SDK that should work

If it doesn't work, open HLMV.bat with notepad++ and edit line 5 to be the following:
call "%~d0%~p0set_sdk_env.bat"

Then open HLMV.bat again.

I open HLMV via Windows shortcut. No environment variable nonsense and works for all source-engine games so far for me.

I have the steps to make one in a L4D2 modding tutorial page[sites.google.com] under the section, "Setup HLMV Tool Shortcut". Just change "left 4 dead 2" in the shortcut and Target field to "Team Fortress 2 and change "left4dead2" in the Target field to "tf".

:)

thank you for both responses however my files are in smd format and it seems that the model viewer only works with mdl files, is there a program i can use to convert the files?
