Can't get my mdl file to open in itemtest, after it was compiled in the importer.

Hi, I'm trying to see my item in itemtest, and so far I've verified it and compiled the mdl from the importer, and then I unzipped the folder. Then when I tried to open it in itemtest as soon as I tried to open the folder that the mdl was in tf2 crashed. I've tried this several times without success.
Help please....

Don't unzip the file that it creates. Use the one that is unzipped (the importer makes an unzipped version as well). It should be located in your C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf\models\workshop\ folder.
