A route indicator has nothing to do with the numbering on the loco. It indicate the route, such as a bus does.

The hemelite loco wont have numbering on it for the loco itself, the rout indicator will read "H 0 0 1" the numberign will be present on the blue and geen br liveries. as for the route, ill find some route numbers.

the ribble will have its route number to be hte early 80s " N 0 8"

as for the load haul and railfreight, choe some numbers and where they should go :D

Nevermind, i looked up the data from the standard type 1 deisel (class 17) manual, its a route indicator as i had thought.

I know that one, but most images i see of the clas 17, the digit plats always have different letters and numbers

Anyone know what the 4 large numbers on the frotns of the class 17 mean or do?
