As the title suggest, it might be a nice addition to automatically add the date and time of the decompile process to the folder name.

To be more specific, I of thought adding a "Append Date and time" checkbox into the Options box to the right hand side.
Which would then simply add the date and time of the compile to the foldername, such as "ChosenFoldername - DD/MM/YY - 15h25m"

There would be some Pro's and Con's to this though, depending on how you feel about it.
If you at any time need to decompile a model again, it will land in a new folder because the timestamp will be different.
This can either be good if you don't want to overwrite the things you made, but it could also be bad if you want to save space on the hard drive.

Good question. I supposed its force of habit to do it this way.

Got another idea.

Crowbar has the nifty "Goto" button on the compile tab, allowing me to go to the folder the model has been compiled to. Or at least to one model when batch compiling models for different folders. But I still have to manually copy the files, or make a batch file, like i had done before.
It would be useful if we had a textbox in which we can paste the location of our "addon root" folder and a new button which will automatically copy all compiled models into the proper location within that addon folder.

Example:
Addon folder called "Simple Weapons".
Put that location onto that textbox in crowbar as such: "F:\Modding\L4D2\Simple_Weapons"
After compiling any models the "move to addon" button becomes available.
Pressing it will copy all models with their respective folder trees into my "Simple_Weapons" addon folder.

While at it, might aswell add a "Use in packing" button to then pack that addon folder through crowbar aswell.

I got the l4d2 sdk and l4d2 hammer in my taskbar for ease of access. But when I modify other games i have to use the steam library to launch its SDK. Some games like Infra don't even have their own SDK, but do have all the tools. So for that game i need the bin folder instead. Or set up the atrocious source sdk and swap between games.

To combat this issue, I suggest adding shortcuts to Hammer, HLMV, QC_Eyes, "Launch game in tools mode"* and a "Open BIN folder" button to the very bottom of crowbar on all tabs. (or specific tabs. i just don't know where it would fit)
My first idea was a new SDK tab, but a new tab for five buttons seems silly.

*L4D2's SDK has a dedicated tools mode button in its SDK. but TF2 required the steam launch settings to be changed, which is a pain.

I'd also add mksheet, which is for making particle sheets, and captioncompiler for compiling closed captions. But those are drag and drop tools like vpk exe, making shortcuts to launch the tools useless, necetating the bin folder to be opened.

I can no longer recreate it in 0.71.
It won't allow me to save over (or delete) the image while crowbar is open.

So we ca nassume this bug to be fixed.

Publishing to L4D2 workshop

What i did:
Published an addon without swapping the thumbnail file.
By that i mean the following: All my releases have the same thumbnail name. I open my thumbnail save in photoshop, swap the image and save as png. That png will always be called "workshop_thumbnail.png"

So when i release a mod all i gotta do is edit the draft to use a new name, new addon file, change description and publish. The thumbnail textbox keeps the previous thumbnail file saved, but since i swapped that file out it does load the correct picture.

The addon does get released like intended, with correct thumbnail and the other parts. So it is not a big deal.

I thought it would be a useful thing to add the ability to compile a "Bonepreserve.cqi".
It basically functions like the Definebone compile option, but instead it writes lines that look like the following:

$attachment "bonepreserve1" "Bone1" 0.00 0.00 0.00 rotate 0.00 -0.00 0.00
$attachment "bonepreserve2" "Bone2" 0.00 0.00 0.00 rotate 0.00 -0.00 0.00
...

What this does is it adds an attachment to every single bone, which will prevent bones from being removed when compiling.
You know, the thing that $definebone is supposed to do, but doesn't do.

I currently make this file myself by loading the model.smd files, copying all the bone lines at the very top and modify them to get the desired lines, but it would certainly speed things up and make me quite happy.

If i understand this correctly, your screen is turning (probably 90° clockwise) and your hands are all over the place.

This happened to me too, when i was a beginner. Using the $includemodel line and $definebones in the qc file fixed that problem for me.
