Hi, I got this error when compiling.

ERROR: Too many flexed verts 18192 (10000)
ERROR: Aborted Processing on 'xxx.mdl'

I know what it means, a model's facial flexes can't move more than 10k vertices, and this one I'm working on apparently has too many flexes, but I want to know how I can fix this. I don't want to ruin the mesh, but I want to know if removing unnecessary facial flexes will do the job.

Let me say that Crowbar is my number one favorite, and I wouldn't have been able to do much in my modding without it, but I have a model that's has really high amount of vertices, and when compiling the model it spits this error at the end of compile,

ERROR: 'EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION' (assert: 1)
ERROR: Aborted Processing on 'xxx.mdl'

I'm trying to compile for Garry's Mod...but with this model, its nearly impossible to reduce the vertex amount without destroying the quality. The model I'm trying to compile I've tried as a whole, and in separate bodygroup parts, as a whole, the model's vertices are about 126,690

So, are there any other model compilers that will get past this? I've had experience with this error, and many of the times I've gotten past it is to decimate in blender, but for this model, doing that isn't an option.

So I have a model that has skins, and a lot of materials, thing is, I have counted the materials to make sure it does not go over the limit, it just hits the mark, 32 materials, however, Crowbar still gives the error, ERROR: Too many materials used, max 32

There are the exact 32! There are no more, so why does it still appear? What, Valve only expects us to have anything UNDER 32 and not exactly 32 itself?

Anything that could be done?

Hi, so I seem to be experiencing a problem where the model I'm compiling (do note it has a lot of bodygroups, and is intentionally and NPC) where when I look at it in HLMV through crowbar, it shows up as nothing, and it says there is no model loaded. However in compiling, I can clearly see that it is there while it compiles, when I select for it to take me to the model, it takes me to my documents, as if the model was missing, or deleted.

However, I went to the location where I knew the model would be, and its there, weirdly.

This doesn't happen with ANY other model I compile. JUST THIS ONE that is an npc, with quite a lot of bodygroups (but of course, they do not exceed the maximum amount of bodygroups, and it is under the vertice limit).

Even if it still "compiles" and I have found the compiled model, and if it works for my game (gmod) there isn't really a point to find a solution, but I still want to know what's causing this, if there is any explanation.

Well, I already got the access violation error, which I can tell straight off that not even SFM can handle it. However, its funny, usually almost straight after I post something regarding a problem, or asking for help in any way, I usually fix the problem.

No need to find any alternatives, I bet none of them would do it any better than crowbar.

Ok, thanks! But if I compile it with SFM, won't it only work for SFM, and not GMod?

Hi, I'm just asking, not that I'm not satisfied with Crowbar (its awesome!), just that I'm having trouble trying to compile a model with a lot of vertices that goes over its limit. When compiling when it gets to the vvd, it always stops at 4,000,000 bytes, the model I'm trying to compile, is 7,000,000.

So are there any other working compilers that may be able to handle it?

This is all for gmod as well.

I have a model, compiling for gmod, which by now, I am convinced that its waaaaaay over the verts/faces limit, or whatever limit gmod (sdk 2013) has, that won't let it compile. Here's the error exactly:

ERROR: too many indices in source: "test.smd"

"Test" is example name.

The verts are 100,901, the faces are 122,072, and the tris are 192,902. My model is a high-poly model, that is meant to be a ragdoll.

Now, I've done some research, and people have been able to get around the limit with ease, or something like that, that they can compile something with, say 200,000 verts, or something like that, polys.

Here is the main point of this post:

Would making all the individual parts, like say, arms, legs, etc, bodygroups for the model, work for compiling? Or...would it still somehow count? Also if there is any other way around compiling this model with crowbar, cause it seems to be the only working compiler that doesn't have to give one a mega amount of problems first.

Trying to compile for SFM also ends up with the same error, and says there are too many verts. But I honestly don't know how to reduce them.

I need to know, because my model spazzes out in Gmod when I try to pick it up. Bear in mind it does have default bone constraints for now, or Alyx's bone contraints.

So can someone please tell me what's cauing it to start spazzing out like mad if I pick it up, and not act like a proper ragdoll is supposed to? And how to fix it?
