First off, I'd like to say that closing DefiantRP was a tough decision as we loved the community we had built up and to close DefiantRP meant we would leave that behind and lose the community we had built up.

Ever since we closed it, we wanted to bring the community back however an RP server wasn't something we wanted to do at the time.

We have now brought Defiant back in the form of a gaming community under the name DefiantGaming, with applications to filter out toxic members.

There are plans for Garry's Mod servers (of course!), possibly exclusive to our members as well as CSGO servers for those of you who play CSGO.

The practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own.

We closed down DefiantRP months ago, and a few months ago the domain expired after Q2F2, Roma and I spoke and agreed that I had no plans on setting up the DefiantRP server again due to lack of interest.

Recently, it has come to our attention that the domain has been purchased by some past players who have created a generic DarkRP server with leaked addons from ScriptFodder, are using the DefiantRP name and brand and calling it a "reborn".

We went on to the server to take a look, only to find that all of our main accounts were banned with silly reasons such as:

and banning all of the past owners is doing the opposite of that and could be seen as hostile.

Zoom blocked me on Steam as soon as I added him to question it, and also IP banned (why?) and deleted my account on the forums when I appealed my ban. Evidently, the owner of the server is aware that he is plagiarising our work and isn't proud of it and isn't willing to be civil with us - the people who gave DefiantRP everything.

Some examples of things that are stolen or very similar:

• Website Background is the exact same as the one we used.
  
• Using our logo on their copy of Prometheus.
  
• Using the same store addon (Prometheus) as we did.
  
• PixelExit style as similar to the one we used without paying.
  
• Node layout on the forums.
  
• The jobs on the server.
  
• Similar / same addons (pre-remake).

We discourage going near the server, as it isn't going to last and it's shameful what they're doing with our brand.

Some other reasons it wont last:

• Use of a cheap host for the server (Nitrous-Networks).
  
• Use of a cheap host for the website and domain (HostGator).
  
• Unlikely that anything is licensed, feel free to ask around as we're just assuming.
  
• Staff are unprofessional staff willing to accept anybody in to the staff team.

Feel free to share the DarkRP server you play on below, hopefully some past players can find a decent server that isn't made by people who wanted power, unable to get it - they gave themselves it.

There have been lots of great times on DefiantRP, for me personally and I'm sure many of you too. I've met lots of people from the server and learnt a lot.

Recently, Q2F2 joined our team and we made it our goal to revamp DefiantRP. What did this mean?

• Fix all the performance issues making the server unplayable.
  
• Stop toxic players being able to crash the server.
  
• Give everybody a second chance.
  
• Get on top of staff applications and stop the mass rule breaking that happens.
  
• Add more servers (TTT was about to be started, within the next week and a custom gamemode..)
  
• Keep the server seasonally up to date.
  
• Add tonnes more features, making it a more fun experience yet still the core
• DarkRP that DefiantRP is known for.
  
• Reset the economy so everyone was equal
  
• And more..

So - we started doing this and deployed a huge update to the server resetting the economy and fixing performance, we suffered pretty hard going from 20-30 players daily to essentially 0-1.

What is odd about this is that when the server was havoc, all of you played it - however when we tried to fix it and make it a good experience.. This?

Q2F2 and I talked, discussing why this has happened and trying to see if there was any way we could save the server - generally we decided it would be better to quit early than to try to prolong the server dying.

The server is no longer online, nor are the forums. You may be able to find your friends through the Steam Group. No refunds will be offered per the ToS. Ranks may be re-given if/when the server re-opens.

It's a shame it has ended this way, and I hope one day DefiantRP may return the way we planned to be and that you'll all be there to enjoy it. I would like to thank Q2F2 and Roma especially - both made DefiantRP exist.
