And you said a whole to paragraphs only about one thing. You didnt mention slavery till the last sentence of that paragraph. The main reason wasnt about slavery. You said yourself he only did that because he was keeping the south together. Lincoln is quoted himself for saying if he could keep slavery and keep the union he would. He didnt care about slavery. He knew it wasnt the big picture. Just you yanks are brain washed into thinking thats why. I live where the civil war started. I think i know more about it than a few people from the north.

They thought that Lincoln, just because he was a republican, would take their slaves from them and destroy their economy. Which, he couldn't of course, because the president cannot make laws, only congress can. When the Civil War began, Lincoln's main concern was holding the union together and protecting the constitution. Lincoln put various war measures forward including freeing slaves in states that had armed rebels in them. This of course did nothing, but it was a symbol that showed what the war's main reason was, and that is, slavery.

I never once said the south lost democracy, I was just saying that the south's representitives in the United States government were outnumbered by the northern states who were the majority faction. It isn't mis-representation, but majority rule, with minority rights. Because they were outnumbered, more laws favoring industry and anti-slavery were created. After being fed up with these laws, the south up and quit American democracy just because they weren't winning. It would be the same if the entire republican party today just left the United States government because Obama is president, but because they stay, they continue to trust in American democracy, something the south did not. Now the breaking point was in 1860 when republican canidate Abraham Lincoln was elected. The south feared Lincoln because he belonged to a conservative, northern, anti-slavery party, the Republican Party.

The south didnt lose democracy. If you know anything about the confederate government its constitution was identical to that of Americas. Only one difference, where the union believed in a government controlled nation, the south believed in a state controlled government. Hince for you get something called states rights. And you point out saying that when lincoln became president states left because he was going to free slaves. Well no. Your wrong. They left because he was going to set up laws and tarriffs that would destroy the southern economy. We where farmers and fisherman not industry workers. We had a different source of income. And you might say that Lincoln still did it. Yeah he did free the slaves, in 1863...... Years after the war ALREADY STARTED. And he only did that because England was going to join the war to aid the confederacy. Now you can continue to say something else but ill be here to prove you wrong once more.

The south left because of slavery, that is what I am trying to make you understand, but you seem to just ignore all my arguements.

But the southern states were afraid of their slaves' being taken away, even though they couldn't unless Lincoln would break the laws set by our constitution, so they left the union.

Well here is my veiw, Lincoln is the main reason, but slavery backs up lincoln being the main issue.
