Gabe vs Bobby Kotick
Which one is worse? The first has made half life, the other made mechwarrior 2 and call of duty instead.
But both are microtransaction shills and pissed off their fans with by filling their games with microtransactions and not releasing games/releasing rushed cash grabs

Not sure which Valve pay to play games have microtransaction. Please don't tell me it's the free to play ones because obviously every F2P needs microtransaction. How else are they going to get money?

Anyway, since Half Life: Alyx is coming, so Bobby is worse I suppose.

I'm offended that you think Valve and Activision are remotely comparable in terms of microtransactions.
Im offended that your offended and i think the whole thing stinks. Waffles and hash browns?

Well Valve is currently worse because it has lootboxes in their current games while Activision put them in set cosmetic packs for their newest CoD game as of right now. Hard to believe i know.

Yeah, loot boxes in free to play games. Shocking. You can just like, not purchase it and continue playing the game for free. It's in no way the same as microtransaction in >$60 games.

CS:GO was a pay to play game since 2012, they put microtransactions/lootboxes in 2013 and the game finally became F2P and full of hackers around December 2018.(imagine a kitchen full of cockroachs, that's CSGO and TF2's ranked statuses right now...)
The same applies to TF2 but with different dates, the game was first P2P, then random cosmetic loot was added, then lootboxes(dubbed "Mann Co. crates") in September 2010, and after that the game went F2P in June 2011.

And it's a free to play game since December 2018. So the evil loot boxes arguments have become invalid.

-Edit-

Despite your edit, my point still stands. Those are free to play games now. If you're comparing them with the newest CoD, then I'm going to argue about them in their current state.

Even when compared to the older CoD like Black Ops I, II, Ghost, or MW3 that came out around the same time, the lootboxes are basically the same as CoD's cosmetic DLCs, only with RNG. Valve doesn't put additional multiplayer maps behind paywalls on an already paid game. Both free and premium accounts in CS:GO and TF2 can access all maps and game modes. Only differs in item drops.

In the end, all of those cosmetics are optional. You don't have to purchase it if you don't want to. It doesn't affect the gameplay in any way. It only serves as ego stroke, for people to show off. I honestly don't understand why people are so upset about it.
