The information in the item definitions is sadly limited so all I can see for Ball Game Playtest is that it has purchasable items which are neither marketable/tradeable, but there might be ways to earn them that's not visible this way (e.g. the dev manually applying them to your account.

I'm guessing SteamDB is running a script which simply checks every appid every couple hours or days, similar to what butcha used to do. The X-Mode Playtest probably added those items recently. You can get the definitions manually with these two api requests. The first one gives you the digest for the second request.

There's a Traffic Cone for playing 2391030 for 15 min or hours (I don't remember lol)
And there's a Space Helmet for unlocking the ach_space achivement
