Beta VBSP has something wrong with lightmaps scales and displacements
When compiling a test map for porting over my vscript2smd generator, I noticed the map wouldn't compile under the Beta, complaining about how a displacement was too big to have a lightmap.

It seems that the beta vbsp is off by a factor of 2. In the production version, the displacment can have a minimum lightmap scale of 12. In the Beta, the same map, it's 24. Both versions of Hammer agree it should be 12

I'm not using any options like luxelscale,I'm just running $bsp_exe -game $gamedir $path\$file

I can't reproduce this problem with my own map - could you please provide your vmf so I can try with that? Thanks.

Hmm, I'm not able to replicate it now with the same test map. I don't believe I've verified since, but I have rebooted. :\
