For muting a player's voice in-game, I have used the following with success. It is probably as easy as it's going to get without having a nice set of options show up in the menu that shows when pressing Esc key.

Enter into console:
voice_show_mute

A list will show in the console with a number beside each player's name.

Find the number for the player you want to mute and then enter this into console (X representing the number you chose):
voice_mute X

L4D2 Beta still does not appear in my Steam Library. I have restarted Steam several more times and even restarted my computer. I know one other person who posted here already has it in his list.

Would someone at Valve verify that my account is setup correctly?

I have checked my Steam Library and do not see Left 4 Dead 2 Beta. I have restarted Steam several times. Do I need to wait for an email or special invite or something else?
