"$AmbientOcclusion" & VMT doesn't exist
I have a transparent model with the AO problem.
Many fixes people give are change the "$AmbientOcclusion" "0". My problem is I don't have a VMT file.
Specific model I'm talking about is : https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=217432131

Any other way of fixing AO transparency? I'm desperate

Huh, that sounds strange. Every Source Engine model must have a VMT file along with the VTF. Without it, it would just show black and purple checkers.

Update: Just checked the ZIP archive. The VMTs are located in "materials\models\Mass_effect_3\Atlas" as usual.

They have textures, but the texture files like VMF and VTF don't have the "$AmbientOcclusion"

Oh! You just need to add it then :)

Thank you!
This is a poor alternative for a model not having AO but it's still nice to know :D

Yeah, AO is a really nice thing to have, but unfortunately it requires to recompile the model to achieve that. :/

But glad that it works now! :D

"$alphatest" "0" is another option to fix the transparency thing.
