Moving particles not rendering properly for a poster
Hi there,

I'm having an issue with a poster I am making. I have a rocket trail which is locked to an animated rocket. In the preview the particles look great, but when I come to render a poster out of SFM the particles 'drop' all the motion data, and look as if they have been non-moving for the duration of the motion.

I hope I explained that adequately, I would really appreciate some help on this.

Kind regards

You should drag the 'playhead' preset instead of 'zero' preset.
After you dragged 'playhead' preset it should look like this.

Thanks for your quick reply, however I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Could you please clarify? I don't use the zero preset, and dragging the playhead preset before rendering does nothing. It's clear from your poster you got this to work, so I must be doing something silly here..

When you lock the particle onto the rocket, drag the 'playhead' preset to the right and the motion path will appear with the rocket.

Sorry I think you've misunderstood my question. The problem is not locking the smoke to the rocket, that works great. The problem is when I render a poster the particles do not look like they do in the preview, they look as if they're not moving while in the animation editor they clearly are.

I forgot to mention that you should try unlocking after you did the 'playhead' preset.
See if it works.

Unlocking them didn't help either :((

I have made an album of the difference in the preview window and final render, hopefully this might serve to illustrate my problem better.

Ok so good news! I fixed my bug. Not sure if this is a fix or a workaround but I think the route of my problem is that I wasn't animating the controlpoint0 element of the rocketrail appropriately.

So for future people finding this page via a google search. Try animating JUST the controlpoint0 element in the animation set editor, I left the route transform where it was at t = 0.

Thanks for the help Sync

Yes, if you are animating a particle, only animate controlpoint0.
