Proof of concept: Cheap ass model scaling via particles
This was a cheap test i did last night to see how viable it would be. So far it seems setting up the scale to be linked to a control point doesnt seem to work too well in sfm but ocilation and linear stuff is pretty straight forward and works well. In the example posted it shows a single partcle doing a linear growth and then ocilating. The particle model will accept lights and shadows from other objects but it wont cast a shadow of its own so its only really useable when you wouldn't be able to see the shadow of the object itself. I'm not sure if there is an option to eventually get a particle shadow or not but at least this method could be used in some situations depending on the camera angle.

Wow, I have no idea how did you actually do this, like how to make a particle that is a model, but it is awesome ;)

Very intresting!...How would one go about making such a thing?

basicly i just created a particle from scratch. I set the render to model. I made it emit instantaniously and only spawn 1 single model. From there i just toyed with settings that effect the scaler. I also included a lock position and orientation to control point so the model is easily moveable and lockable to object. From the looks of it it should be possable to give a model a single looping animation. In theory this could easily be used for a stuff like a shit ton of birds or something
