Scenes from Black Rose Part 1
Disclaimer: These are just my opinions and thoughts, they aren't mean't to criticise or discourage you, but help show potential areas of improvement. It is up to you whether you accept them or not

I've watched the videos you have put up on this post and gone to your website.

Your Strengths
  • Cinematography - You understand how to use the camera and how to move it around
  • Lighting - You use light well to emphasise the subject and create the mood
  • Composition - Everything is set in such a way to add visual flavour and emphasise the theme
  • Music - It's used to great effect in creating the mood and atmosphere

The clips that worked really well to your strengths are 'Scenes from Black Rose' Part 1 and 2. I really got the 60s - 70s style of filmmaking in those videos. There however is a couple of things that bothered me in Part 2 that became very prevalent in Part 3 and the Trailer.

The first was the 'fly-through camera' and the second was the 'fast dolly shot'.

The 'fly-through camera' is best seen in Part 2 at 1:26 to 1:54, and while you have a fantastic establishing shot, it's let down when the camera continues on through the town. Also it goes backwards briefly.

The fast dolly shot is seen in multiple shots, so there is no point in emphasising one. All I can say is in future try to keep in mind the emotion you are trying to convey when you are moving the camera towards the subject, or away from it.

These are only minor issues so it's best just to be aware of them.

    Your Weaknesses
    • Animation - Don't let this discourage you, animating a character isn't easy. Best go online and find tutorials to help you practice. The more you do, the better you will get

Another way to help you learn how to animate is to act out the scene and record yourself doing it. You will get a better understanding of what's going on with the character and it'll help when it comes to pacing.

I really like your website and I'm very interested to know more about your TF2 story

      Hope this helps
