non-Steam game icons sometimes don't load.
Randomly some non-Steam games refuse to load their icons. Rarely restarting Steam fixes it. Trying to change the icon does not fix it.

If Steam can fetch icon from executable (or a shortcut. Never tried. But shortcuts can have icons - which could be fetched easily - just fine), it might be able to do so.
If the game icon is stored elsewhere, it's unlikely that Steam will be able to fetch it.
Be more specific.

It doesn't matter where the image originates from (I either use the executable's icon or import a png), any of the icons of my non-steam games could just vanish only to reappear randomly. Also whenever you import an image, they're re-saved to this directory:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\196207679\config\grid
meaning Steam always fetches the icon from the same folder unless you use the executable's icon.

Actually now that I look at it, there are only two icon images in that folder even though I've definitely imported more images than that. I have no idea how it works.
