I quite like the ergonomics of the controller and would love to be able to use it on steam.
Please keep me posted as well I got the controller today and I really would like to use it :)
I found a website that temporarily lets you use your Switch Online GameCube controller. It doesn't work on every browser (doesn't work on FireFox with my settings, but it worked on Edge). All you have to do is plug your controller into your PC, select the controller after clicking "Enable HID Output", and it should work for as long as you keep the controller connected AND the website is running.

AS OF RIGHT NOW; the rumble and gyro doesn't activate, you can only use the triggers as regular triggers (so no analogue input), the joystick gates aren't perfect, and you can't use Bluetooth.
More work needs to be done to get the controller fully functional, but it's good enough to at least play with. Although it's not the most practical thing in the world, you'll at least have the ergonomics of a GameCube controller. I'll try to keep you updated, but here's a thread that CAN announce any revolutions:

Here's one for the Switch 2 Pro Controller:

Actual input with that method is pretty bad though, even with steam input. Binding of Isaac gets the axis mixed up and Celeste has no downwards axis + up diagonal has a really weird input window.
Ive also tried the 8bitdo usb adapater, but that currently doesnt work (yet ?)
