Subject: Suggestions to Improve Global Pricing and Gifting System on Steam
Dear Steam Development Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I would like to share a couple of suggestions that I believe could enhance the Steam experience for players globally:

1. **Regional Pricing for Unavailable Games**: Currently, some games are unavailable for purchase in certain regions due to the lack of regional pricing. As a result, players in those regions cannot buy those games. Would it be possible to implement a fallback mechanism, where if a game does not have regional pricing in a specific area, it automatically defaults to the U.S. pricing? This could allow more players to access and enjoy the games they want, regardless of their location.

2. **Cross-Region Gifting System**: Steam is a global platform that brings people together from all over the world, allowing them to make friends from different regions. However, the current gifting system restricts cross-region gifting, likely due to pricing differences across regions. I understand the need to prevent players from exploiting regional price differences to gift themselves cheaper games, but could we allow cross-region gifting by having the gift's price default to the higher value between the two regions? This would ensure fair pricing while also encouraging more cross-region friendships and interactions.

Thank you for considering these suggestions. I believe they could greatly benefit the Steam community and enhance the platform’s global appeal.

Best regards,

The reason the safeguards are in place is because of past moneylaundering schemes using Steam's market system at the time. You may or may not the period in time where Innocent Steam users were finding their accounts locked because other users in a certain country could use a booth to send the minimum Steam funds to any account they wanted. It cost them nothing because of exchange rates and was totally anonymous. I digress; Are you sure the games you want are just unavailable in your country because of their content?

I'm sorry I didn't think about it that much. But some of the games I want are locked and can't be purchased

Do note that in many cases, lack of price for region is intentional. For example a lot of developers removed price in Russian region when Russia invaded Ukraine. There are also games intentionally only sold in certain regions. Valve can't override developer decisions on pricing, or lack thereof.
