Steam should separate the achievements of the main game from the DLC.
If I bought the base version of the game, why can't I get 100% of the achievements due to the DLC? Perhaps for some reason I don’t want to play or buy DLC.
I think they should add a second purple icon to indicate that the user has completed all achievements in both the main game and the DLC. And the blue icon that currently exists will indicate the completion of all achievements in the base game.

Read wuddih's edited replies here for DLC achievements...

You can safely say that the vast majority of games on Steam with DLCs will require the DLC achievements to get 100%.

I don't disagree with the new icons though.

funny thing is that Valve apparently told a Dev that its not possible, so linking that old reply is quite pointless and also doesn't prove anything.

after reading that post, I went down a very deep rabbit hole of trying to find any documentation or other evidence that the achievements can be separated from the base game. I even contacted Valve Support to ask them if it was possible, and they said no

Apparently its possible for Soundtracks but not for others, why Valve says its possible for Soundtracks is beyond me but further indicates that people at Valve have no clue about anything

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
