Or just let the old one somehow in place.
why dont they have options for choosing old and new? why forcing?
example this one
button pad new deck ui
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2891899642
the old desktop ui tell which binding is what and they have picture layout to see
but new one dont have it also some binding and customization is so terrible

I actually thought it being accessible from game pages was an oversight, since the Steam Input Controller Configuration is tied to Big Picture Mode and you still see the new Controller Configuration UI without having the new BPM enabled. Apparently, this is intentional and Valve is now forcing this defective UI on their users. You can still access the old UI through BPM, however, but it's a nuisance to do so every time you want to change a config.
Steam should revert the Steam Input Controller Configuration UI to the old style so that it's consistent with Big Picture Mode. The new UI should only show if you have set the command line to use the new BPM (which is far from finished anyway, based on what I hear).
When they finally make the new BPM the default, I think they have two options:
- Add a command line to let users use the old BPM, including the old Steam Input Controller Configuration UI when accessed from the game library (pressing "Controller Layout"). A separate launch command could be used for this or "-oldbigpicture" could also apply to the library.
- Change the old Steam Input Controller Configuration UI graphically/cosmetically to match the new BPM and add an option somewhere to let users use that instead. The options could be called "Default" and "Alternate" or maybe "Classic".
If Valve continues with these questionable practices--forcing something on users they do not want--they will be in for quite some criticism and they certainly have earned it.I understand that it means more work for Valve, but so is having to deal with constant complains from the users. The new configurator is wrong from the core, and having to constantly bend it into something usable is also a lot of work.
If you set the X or Y positions too high, then the cursor will go off-screen. But if it's too low, the cursor would barely be away from the top left corner of the game window.
Even if you take a screenshot of your game with on-screen clickable buttons and mapping the X and Y coordinates from an image editor, it doesn't move the mouse to where you want the cursor to be.
Edit 5/13/2023: seems like the May 12th beta update re-implemented moving the cursor in-game, and it also allows using screenshots to position the mouse cursor. Huge improvement. However, you have to click "Start" on the move mouse to position screen.
Open Steam and go to the "Steam" menu at the top left corner of the screen.
Select "Settings" from the drop-down menu.
Click on the "Controller" tab in the left-hand menu.
Under the "General Controller Settings" section, click on the "Desktop Configuration" button.
In the pop-up window, click on the "Use Previous Interface" button at the bottom.
