Is there a way to hide the bottom bar?
this bar has 3 buttons ADD A GAME, DOWNLOADS, FRIENDS & CHAT these functions are already on the top bar, it's just a waste of space especially on low resolution monitors

Not currently, but use to with Steam skins. Hopefully, they give the option to hide that bar, I agree there is no need for it, and is a bit annoying personally.

Would also love to see this tbh, I love when any toolbar etc in any software can be hidden if desired. Especially when they're arguably needless or redundant, like the steam client bottom bar absolutely is.

I have lost countless posts due to bottom navigation bar. The bottom bar is really discouraging to engage with steam as platform.
Also ir would be nice to not lose progress of last post that I wrote before being navigated by those really annoying bottom buttons during post writing phase.

Are you talking about the PC client or the mobile app?
