Support for the 8Bitdo Ultimate 2
Received my Ultimate 2 in the mail finally and did some testing. In it's Bluetooth D-Input mode it reports it's extra buttons just like the Ultimate 2C. I'm hoping this means that we can get support added for it's extra buttons pretty soon for Steam Input. Gyro and Rumble doesn't appear to be reported though.

In the rare chance that someone from steam notices this, I'm attaching the SDL config I set up for the controller. I was able to get the 4 extra buttons to show up in steam input using this on my steam deck. I had to export a template from the steam deck controller and then import that onto the Ultimate 2 controller to get PL and PR to show up in the remapping section. Tested it out in game and all four buttons responded to the remapping.

8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless,crc:4260,platform:Linux,a:b0,b:b1,x:b3,y:b4,dpleft:h0.8,dpright:h0.2,dpup:h0.1,dpdown:h0.4,leftx:a0,lefty:a1,leftstick:b13,rightx:a2,righty:a3,rightstick:b14,leftshoulder:b6,lefttrigger:a5,rightshoulder:b7,righttrigger:a4,back:b10,start:b11,guide:b12,steam:2,paddle1:b17,paddle2:b16,paddle3:b2,paddle4:b5,

Using this the the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 buttons are mapped as such
Steam L4: 8Bitdo L4
Steam R4: 8Bitdo R5
Steam L5: 8Bitdo PL
Steam R5: 8Bitdo PR

Where do I put the sdl config to get this to work?

Yeah it would be nice to be able to map those buttons. My main thing, and I just made a post about it, is that the Ultimate 2 controller has gyro function. Why do we have to mimic console controllers? Why is there no option like how the steam controller had. Full function of the controller. 🤦
I'm trying to figure out which controller I want for my birthday, ultimate 2 is what I want but I read the gyro only maps to the joysticks. Like what even is that?? Whyyy?? Why not give options to map the gyro to mouse? It's a PC! 🤦🤦🤦

I want to be able to use my gyro above anything else. The pro 2 has it but must be in switch mode which means I lose analog trigger function. Say bye bye to soft and hard press function... Why is it even there if it doesn't work? This is frustrating. Then steam stopped making their controller.

Pardon my rant...

Bumping this again. With a recent beta firmware for the Ultimate 2 all of its back buttons, rumble and Gyro is now detected in steam. The only thing stopping it from working fully is the steam input UI being updated to support it. You can technically mess with a layout on a different controller (like the steam deck controller) and export that as a template to configure gyro settings but that's less than ideal.

Yeha I saw they made a new version for it. It's the Bluetooth version and is compatible with the switch. So the gyro will work and also you don't lose analog trigger function. I had messaged 8bitdo and made a big stink about their current Ultimate 2. I'm sure many others did as well. Thankfully they listened. They also decided to make the NES themed mouse which I'm stoked about also!

Yes, the UI support is planned but not ready to ship yet

Thank you for the response. I look forward to when it is ready as I really like the controller and use it frequently on my steam deck.

Is this support planned for previous 8bitdo controllers or just the Ultimate 2?

Any plans for support for 8bitdo Ultimate 3-mode?

I'm very interested in this question too, I use a Ultimate 2.4G. Time to subscribe to this thread,

Would love to see this for other controller brands as well.

I'm a big fan of the 8bitdo Ultimate BT I have but as a fan of symmetrical sticks I've been primarily using a GameSir Tarantula Pro lately that has a lot of similar features that I can't properly expose to Steam Input for better per-game bindings.

Is there any estimate on when we can expect the UI support to be available?

This is super rad. Any chance Gamesir and Flydigi can also get this sort of love?
