In-game FPS counter too big
The latest beta introduced a different font for the FPS counter making it way bigger than it was.
Styles and font have been updated on the in-game FPS counter when enabled.

Please give us the option to change font size or keep the old style.

Thank you.

We hear you all. We are still iterating on this, we’ll make it look a little closer to the original size/contrast for this beta.

You will see more of our broader work in this area show up at some point soon (maybe later this beta cycle, maybe in another cycle soon), and I think you’ll understand that we actually touched this because we are investing in a set of tools that will be helpful. We’re super aware that there is a sensitivity around how unobtrusive and non-game immersion breaking this is vs trying to make it more readable. As we work in this area you are going to see more options to customize detail levels and sizes, but that won’t show up immediately.

Thanks for the feedback on the current change, it does really help us to help think about the right balance of unobtrusive vs readability and detail as we go forward.

It makes no difference, though. I also noticed that when I change the location of the fps counter in Steam settings, this file is not updated. Now I'm wondering if it's even used by Steam any more.

I got fed up with it, and switched back to the release Steam version, not the beta. The release version has the previous much smaller fps label.

sadly, they will likely push that to public, without fixing the issue people mentioned, like they do with everything... including bugs, then maybe a few months or so later, they might decide to fix/change w/e people have mentioned, issues/bugs, or changes people ask for, w/e it may be.

have a nice day

I would really appreciate it if the FPS counter could be made customizable — especially the size. In some games, the default size makes it hard to read or gets in the way. It's a very useful feature overall, so making it more flexible would make it even better!

This change is awful, please make it customizable or revert the change. I want the FPS counter to be small and subtle. I've disabled the counter completely because of the change,

Please bring back the old style, or give us the option to customize the new one (to look like the old one).

+1 It’s way too distracting now. :cat_and_thoughts:

The new FPS counter is ass, revert it or give us some customization options (or else!).

Oh, I thought it was some bug, but seems not only me had this problem. Hope Steam will fix that soon.

I like the new one but I do agree that the ability to have the old size would be great after all I wouldn't need it that big all the time, or I imagine when the novelty of the new size runs out that I'll more and more want the option of making it the subtle smaller version it used to be.
A Valve employee has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

The New FPS counter is one of the worst changes you've ever made. The old one was super subtle and I only saw it when I was looking for it so i could always have it running. Now it's this giant, distracting opaque box that I can't stop seeing no matter what I do.

how about y'all just leave it the way it was??? Literally no one complained about it before so why change it?

I think it might be connected with the recently announced accessibility improvements.
Yeah this is awful, I thought my game was bugging out or my computer, it’s so distracting and not even reading right anymore now, Stellar Blade doesn’t display properly when framegen is on.

A VERY uncommon Steam L, not used to this.

Trying to find a middle ground sounds like a decision will be made for us. I feel like it could be a set of options for people to set whatever they prefer.
