Help With Adding League of Legends/Valorant to Steam Overlay for Recording
Despite the general ability to add other games to the overlay recording feature, in typical Riot fashion getting League of Legends (and by extension, Valorant) to work with the steam overlay and recording has been a hassle due to the game having three separate clients (riot client, league of legends client, actual game client). No matter what steps I take, the steam overlay refuses to load.

I have attempted to add all three clients as a non steam game, ensure that the general riot client had the --launch-product=league_of_legends --launch-patchline=live launch flags, ensured that all the clients have "enable steam overlay option" selected, attempted to open all three clients through the steam client (except for the actual game one, that can't be opened directly), and I have already restarted the PC and ran steam as administrator. Nothing stated above has worked to get the steam overlay to work.

Even though non-steam games are expected to have a level of jankness in trying to enabling the overlay recording, I would imagine that many others would have the same question trying to get a Riot game to work with recording. Suggestions would be much appreciated

Yes, I've been trying a bit to get the overlay to work with League as well! No dice from me, either. I tried recording for the first time tonight in Elden Ring, and my next thought was that it would be great for League of Legends. I figured as much that the three separate clients would render getting the overlay to work a nightmare.

There actually is! So you'll first need to add valorant to steam. To do that open steam and then go ''add a game'' in the bottom right, then ''add a non-steam game''. I don't think that you'll find Valorant itself but Riot games, so click that and you're good. If you cant find Riot games then click ''browse'' and find it from there. Now go to your library, launch riot games from steam and then open riot games how you would normally open it to play Valorant/League or wtv you want to play. (From your files or desktop, wherever you have riot games).
