The Boilerplate
Below is the boilerplate information, terms, and conditions of the UESC monthly space engineers build contest. The moderators reserve the right to amend, update, add or remove any of the below text without prior notice. Such updates will be dated below the section where the change occurs.

Contest Goals:

The UESC wants to reach out into the community, providing a whole new way to enjoy Space Engineers. So to provide amusement and joy for the Space Engineers community as a whole, we decided to host a competition on a monthly basis with prizes in the form of games.

Every month, with every new contest, there will be a new topic, defining the type of your creation. If you were able to build anything your imagination can offer, then the judges would have a really tough time!

Since part of the contests goals is community involvement, each month you will be asked to create a new construction, so community members can share ideas and experiences towards a similar goal! And perhaps make some new friends! Dropping in, and posting a ship that happens to meet the construction requirements then wandering off until the results are in, is not the type of atmosphere we hope to foster. Previously constructed vessels will not be accepted as entries.

A note about the Moderators:
The moderators (hosts) , Kilroy and W0lf3y, operate this contest at the request of the UESC. We do so becaue we love space engineers, the community surrorunding the game, and the creations that result from each months contests. The moderators reserve all rights to run the monthly contest as they see fit which includes but is not limited to, changing the op, changing the boilerplate, banning (temporarily or permanently ) any contestent for any reason, cancelling a contest, and/or announcing a new moderator.

The moderators have been known to help contestents with their entries from time to time. They do so out of the kindness of their hearts, they are not obligated to provide help if asked. any help given to a contestent does not guarentee a victory in the current months contest.

The responsibilities assumed by the moderators of the contest are as follows.

Creating, Maintainting, Updating all forum and sub forums for the monthly contest
Answering questions about the contest in the fourms
Serving as the mediator between contestents and judges
aggregating each judges forms
announcing the results for each months contest
Acquiring the prizes for each month
Distributing, to the best of their ability, the prizes to the victors of each months contest

A note about the Twitch Streams:
The twitch hosts are an independant review forum of contest community members. The twitch hosts have no previous knowledge of contest requirements and are allowed to participate in the contest if they choose. Twitch hosts opinions are theirs alone and are separate from the judging panel, the UESC, and the moderators.

A note about Judges:

We use a panel of three (3) "Iron Engineers". Two (2) are UESC members, and one (1) independent. The judges are either veterans of the contest or highly skilled engineers in their own right and are more than qualified to judge entries. The moderator does not vote, even in the event of a tie. The moderators do not share opinions with the judges and do not attempt to influence the scores of the entries or the final outcome of the contest. The judges carry out their duties independently from each other and do not collude on scoring the entries. Any inappropriate contact between a contestant and a judge will be reported and ma result in disqualification, temporarary or permanent ban from the build contest.

A Note Regarding Plagiarism

Everything must be 100% your original work (excluding scripts, etc.). Plagiarism will disqualify you from this and future contests/scenarios. Please follow this. We want to foster a fair environment here. These monthly contests/scenarios are designed to provide an exciting challenge and give a structured environment to further develop your abilities. Submitting the work of another runs contrary to the spirit of these contests/scenarios and is unfair to everyone involved.

If you have been banned for plagiarism and want to participate again, PM me and we can work out how to make things right. In most cases, publicly apologizing to everyone in the submission thread and promising not to do it again will be sufficient. The goal is to keep the contests fair but people should be given a "second chance" if they are willing to change as a person. A third chance, however, will likely not be given.

Prizes:

The UESC is able to offer prizes in the form of video games, or, in exceptional cases, honorary positions or actions. These video games, which are the main prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, will be sent to the winners in the form of Steam keys or download links.
All the games will come from HumbleBundle[www.humblebundle.com], which means that the winners will get their free games, the money goes to charity and everyone is happy!

Hosts reserve the right to change listed prizes without previous notification.

Contest Sponsorship:
*This contest is organized by the UESC community in collaboration with and sponsored by Keen Software House*

Keen is graciously giving the three winners their choice of either Space Engineers or Medieval Engineers in the form of Steam Keys. If you don't have M.E. yet, now's your chance to win a copy. Alternatively, you can win some S.E. Game Codes to give to your friends.

Keen Sponsorship is "at will". they are not required to provide steam key's for the winners, they do so out of their interest in supporting the contest community.

What is overkill?

We get asked this a lot.
Overkill is simply the contestant abusing what's allowable. Overkill is judged by the judges.

Ex: Typically grid splicing is allowed for features and functionality, but that does not mean you can construct whole rooms off a splice to "beat" the block counts.

If the judges see fit a -15 pt overkill penalty is assigned

How can I enter this contest?

Everyone can enter the contest, you do not need to be, nor become a member of the UESC, even though new members are highly appreciated and always welcome. Simply post your creation in the appropriate UESC Build Group Forum thread using the provided form.

Contest Thread Management

Contest moderators reserve the right to delete off topic posts from the contest forum or any related contest thread. Off topic posts will be deleted from submission threads without additional notification. Please do not use these contests for self promotion of off topic items. There are other avenues for sharing your creations. If you want to share your work with others, please make sure it's actually relevant to the contest.

Fixed 26 Spelling errors.
Reworded 4 sections due to their grammar.

(there may or may not be more in there though, that's just what I found on my first pass.)

This is good to have though, I approve.

Clarification on the word "original": You must start from scratch (or start from another creation you made that itself was started from scratch) for it to be original.

Scripts made by others do not count as "unoriginal" unless stated.

Recreations of ships in other media (i.e. building a Tie Fighter in Space Engineers from scratch) are considered original for the definition of plagiarism.

I'm not sure how I can further clarify this but as always feel free to ask questions if you are unsure.
