Alpha 8 Server/Rule changes - Discussion
If you missed the recent community blog: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZ1WkoTJ3fc

The below is subject to change depending on what Eleon deliver with Alpha 8.

In summary and as at the time of writing this post - proposed changes to the server and rules are as follows:

Factions
- The Wolves Server will now comprise of 3 Origin factions. Names and 'bios' of these faction to be determined.
- 2 of these factions will be PVP factions locked into War with each other.
- The 3rd faction is pure PVE only.

Solar System
The solar system is likely to be much smaller to encourage more contact and interaction with each other. territory is everything.
currently the 2 PVP factions will start on a single planet and the PVE faction to start on a seperate world.

- The PVP planet will exist entirely of Gold deposits. limited resources will be available from rocks, golems and fauna but no destructible POIs will exist on the planet.
- A single admin POI will exist on the planet. This will be a trade post with a freighter landing platform.
- The PVP planet will otherwise be a relatively vanilla planet seed.

- The PVE planet will be tougher to survive but much richer in materials. deposits of all starter resources will litter the planet.
- The PVE planet will also have a moon with a couple of rarer resource deposits available.
- Both the planet and the moon will be littered with vanilla POIs, drones and patrol vessels however.

- Other planets and asteroid fields will likely be added to the solar system in some way, these will be available to the PVE faction to colonise and mine and will allow the PVE faction to branch out into competing sub factions.

- The GW planet aka the Xenu homeworld will be setup for community events, this planet will include the custom POIs from the last season. With the buff in weapons strength and accuracy they received, they are now serious adversaries that will require all factions to unite!

Trading
- Trading is the only way the PVP factions can acquire large quantities of resources both common and rare.
- The PVP faction will mine Gold, that gold can be exchanged for resources with the PVE faction.
- The PVE faction conducting the trade must land a freighter at the admin POI on the PVP planet, the faction buying the goods must hand over the gold and receive delivery of the goods.
- The PVE faction is free to leave when the trade is concluded.
- The PVP faction must now get its goods back to the safety of thier base.
- Fighting is not permitted at the admin POI. In fact, no weapons are allowed in the building at all.
- Neither faction are allowed to exclusively control the POI by encircling it in defences for example.
- PVE sub factions can trade with other PVE sub factions in Gold.

PVP combat
- Offline attacks / raiding is permitted where offline protection has not been used to protect something.
- Only the PVP factions can conduct PVP battles, the PVE faction is allied with everyone so cannot be attacked and cannot attack other factions.
- Anti-griefing rules may be enabled to prevent drilling under bases or building next to other player bases to grief them.
- PVP action may occur anywhere the two PVP factions meet. even on other planets, even just outside the admin POI. crossfire may occur and PVE players may be hit accidently.
- Attacking the PVE factions on purpose will result in the alliance being dropped and that faction being blacklisted by the PVE factions and therefore no longer able to trade with them.
- PVP combat can happen anywhere at anytime, does not need to be declared or announced.

Building & Mining
- PVP factions can build the allowed number of bases on the starter planet. They can build anywhere in space.
- PVE factions can build anywhere except the PVP starter planet.
- PVE factions must build mining HQ on planets to be able to mine that planet.
- PVE factions are the only ones allowed to use auto miners.
- If/When a PVP faction purchases their own planet, they have exclusive mining rights to that planet.
- CVs must have exposed rear thrusters (shutter windows blocks are ok).
- Cvs can have up to twice the size class of the ship in turrets.

Blueprints
- Only the PVE factions can use blueprints freely.
- Blueprints can be purchased from the PVE factions by the PVP factions at the admin POI on the PVP world.

Need to think about how blueprint purchasing will work, ideas suggestions welcome. What do we do about PVP faction buying CVs?
Sharing workshop items is a pain, how can we simplify this?
Are we limiting where things can be spawned, ie. platforms for CVs?

Pricing
- A general RRP price sheet will be created as a guideline for commodities trading.
- Prices are otherwise set by the PVE factions based on supply and demand.
- PVE factions can opt to setup fixed price lists for blueprint types if they wish, for example:
  • a small unarmed hover miner may cost 500,000 credits.
  • a large armoured hover miner with a couple of turrets may cost 2,500,000 credits.
etc etc
This would streamline the buying process so we don't need to get a calculator out each time someone wants to buy a basic blueprint.

All questions, critique, ideas, suggestions etc are welcome!

Names: Static's Xstatic Statisticians...
if only I was gonna play PVE... sorry rec.

Yeah sharing BPs is a pain, and also, a lot of people don't exactly want to make their PVP bps public knowledge. They find the idea of others having their PVP blueprints to be... icky. lol. so there has to be a way around that.

do the same (Derroitory adjective) building rules apply to ship builds? or in other words is it still possable to have more weapons on a SV than on a CV ? Or other silly nonsence like you cant build a small fast armored combat CV with fixed guns because it is only size 2 . and other randome buggery Like that?

almost all build rules are out the window. you still need exposed rear thrusters and turret limits to size class but no more CV classifications blah blah blah.

Sounds almost appealing. taking a break from minecraft in space and play some empyrion combat survival for a change.

@static the faction names i suggested were pvp faction names of course since there is only one pvp faction. And the pve faction will be called COX as in church of xstatic. 😁

I fully endorse and support this decision.

An idea for the pvp blueprints would be a sort of tier system like the prefabs from bp library. Have some stock svs and cvs that the pvp factions can choose from. Custom ships by dream and the other freelancers. That would leave the pve faction as real weapon vendors with different ships to choose from. And create equal ships for both pvp factions would even the odds.

When a PVE sub faction declares mining rights to a planet, they claim exclusive mining rights to that planet. no other PVE sub faction can mine on that planet.

Does this mean there is going to be war between pve subfactions ?

Not war in guns and ammo but with negotiations, diplomacy and deals, its just an idea. but I imagine you could have one faction specialising in building and selling ships etc to the PVP factions, another faction that mines and sells raw material to everyone for example.

But i guess there could be competing factions trying to do the same thing, in that case, other resource planets might become first come first serve but maybe we can think of ways for it to change hands without bloodshed.

Sure. One pve faction no subfactions. That would make organizing Ressources and bps a lot easier. :steamhappy:

I suggest thet custom blueprints are paid for to the PVE faction and then spawned in by the buying factions Leader or Sub(s) for when the leader is not online.
