EGS - Rule/Server changes - Suggestions

I agree that utility ships 6 and under should be allowed up to 7 turrets/weapons and standard turret limits apply from size 7 upwards.

This will need to be signed off by Wolf though and as i stated above, last time i brought it up. Wolf did not agree.

I understand the limit on utilitiy ships and wholeheartedly agree with the fact that there should be limits so as to prevent ambiguity. The limits which I am more concerned with are the limits enforced on a military vessel. Military vessels, by their very nature, are supposed to be designed to bring the pain and I feel as though the limits on the smaller military vessels prevent such.

I like what you suggested about ships under a certain size being allowed a number of turrets equal to a set number that isn't tied to their size classification as a multiplier. As far as preventing ambiguity, there are already rules in place on the types of weapons that prevent a utility ship from being mistaken for a utility ship. Section 5, subsection 3, paragraph 2 states the following

"Only a military (see CV classification) vessel is permitted to equip arty (size 6+), rocket, plasma or laser turrets "

My opinion is that rule is completely fine and understandable, it even makes a lot of sense. Where I think the rules need adjusted are the same places you, Spanj, have illustrated as well as there being more sub-classifications of Military vessesl. Military vessels (in real life and most sci-fi) are usually broken down into corvette/frigate, cruiser, battleship/battlecruiser, and carrier) My personal opinion is that anything under a size classification of 6 (5 and below) would be considered corvettes/frigates and have the ability to land on a planet as a military transport (ala C-130).

This is the thread for rules change suggestions and here I am presenting my argument (legal definition, not common parlance) for my suggested set of rules changes. I am just now trying my hand at designing a CV for the server and designing it as such to be a military vessel.
I understand the turret/weapon limits from the mechanical aspect when it comes to the big capital ships. Where I am a little fuzzy/slightly frustrated is when I'm designing a ship. I have been kicking around a few designs in my head and am about to start working on said designs in creative mode for a military grade CV that would likely be considered a Corvette/Escort ship.

I'm not sure just how big the ship is going to end up being but I doubt that it will be much larger than a 4 or 5 size class. An example of a size class 3 CV that I do not believe is overgunned due to its length and location of said weapons is the Warchain by Pystonworks. Granted, Pyston's stuff seems to be designed for a server that doesn't have as rediculously hard POIs as our server but going by length specs its 4 Rocket turrets, 4 plasma turrets, 4 pulse laser turrets, 2 rocket launchers, and 2 pulse lasers is "overgunned" but when compared to its actual length the weapons count and placement is actually adequate.

An ammendment to my suggested rules change is relax the 2x size classification of ship on anything Size classification 5 and below. Put a hard limit of 10 turrets and 4 fixed forward weapons at the max. A size 1 or 2 won't likely be able to support that many weapons but a size 3 - 5 would.

I get wanting to build big ships and maybe I'm coming from the wrong mindframe but I'm not wanting to fly up to my CV and suddenly have my game crash due to system resources (I need non low-voltage memory and possibly a new video card and hopefully Santa will come through for me this year.) so I try designing my ships to be small, manageable for myself and maybe a couple of others, and easy on my system.

Also, i'm kind of in disagreement with not being able to land a small (under size class 5 as those have no ability to have arty turrets per the rules) on planet but that's not a big dea.
