Why is the connection to the main servers so trashy?
I can connect to almost all Chicago and Texas servers in the game with minimal lag. (Of course not for Valve official servers since those are all in virginia for some reason.) Yet, when I join the standard version of Custom weapons servers, my ping skyrockets to over 200? The server browser even shows me low latency. What is going on?

Any problems you're having must be client side since most people can connect with no ping problems at all as long as they live near the server host. Also last time I checked we don't have a texas server.
