Question Regarding Mod Support and Spriting
Is purchasing Spine always going to be a requirement (by that I mean I need Spine in order to "color outside the lines") or will the devs give us mod tools that will help? Or perhaps a cheaper alternative? I think I already know what the answer will be, but I guess that a piece of me hasn't given up hope yet.

See, I've got fantastic ideas, and art skills to boot - but I can't afford Spine. It's a bummer, because if I had access to tools, I could make some amazing mods.

It is possible. Dragonbones (free software!) can export to a Spine compatible JSON. I think DD uses the binary file format though, so someone would have to import your thing into Spine and reexport it. Or build a tool to translate between the two.

I believe the 70 dollar version of Spine should allow you to do all that you need to do for sprites in our game.

@MechanicalPen I'll have to check that out. Although I'd rather just have the tools myself rather than rely on the kindness of strangers in order to produce a mod. The internet is kinda mean, if you get my drift.

@redhookjohn I apreciate the info, but I'm far, far too poor to justify spending 70 bucks. So, if I may ask, is there a tool like the above poster mentioned that could translate between Dragonbones (or any other program that can do the same) and Spine? If not, I'll suck it up, be patient and save up. It'll just take me a good while. Til either happens, I'm happily modding what I can!

Sorry for my nagging questions, but I'm absolutely dying to create something amazing.

I'm not super familiar with the software they are suggesting, but it's worth a shot! I'll ask our animator to take a look and see.

I appreciate that thanks!
