Additional Dungeons
Hey Devs and fellow Modders,

I am wondering if with the mod tools, will this open up the ability of adding new dungeons and locations to the world of DD? In speaking to other players and modders it is evident that being able to add dungeons to the game would be a great bonus.

It would add countless additional hours to gameplay and can allow the game to continue to grow as people add more over time. Just look at the added content Skyrim has gotten in terms of dungeons and locations as an example.

Thoughts?

I agree that adding new levels should be made into a high priority. It'll give more flexiblitily and options to gameplay overhaul mods and would probably make it more easier to even see some total conversion mods down the road. The overhaul mods are probably the biggest draw right now with the current modding community, so it makes sense.

Is it actually possible to add dungeons with the current, manual method? It seems possible at first glance, just a lot of tedious amount of editing and trial and error from my theory. Editing the "quest.json", "map_generator.darkest" & "quest_select.layout.darkest" to support a new folder in the "dungeon" folder, editing / adding new graphics, curios, palettes, monsters, ect; to the folder and the files within, then making the localization to support all that. Or is there something hard coded to prevent it?

I think it would certainly add to the games longevity - and would certainly keep more players/modders active - if a simpler method or at the very least a tutorial on to how to add dungeons was provided.

I know for me - there was a modder (Skylord) early on in DD's early access who produced a class mod - through his instructions/guidance to me - I was able to succeed in creating classes. Which I am completely hooked on.

I can only imagine how much time this game would suck out of me if I could create dungeons. :)

Total conversion was an idea I was toying around with early on; A friend of mine suggested I try to make something akin to Long War, but without the ability to add dungeons and quests, it's hard really figure out something that is both in the spirit of DD and has the feel of a long, but interesting campaign of LW.

Of course, given that Radiant mode is coming out, unsure if people actually want a Long War conversion XD
