What is needed to make a new way to play?
Hello! I am new to this modding thing, just started today, and I wanted to know if it would be possible to create a weird type of mod where you can play as the bad guys (The crazy guys in the dungeon that kill you), maybe even letting you play as one of the bosses. It sounds cool on paper, but I'm sure that something like this might be extremely difficult to achieve, but I'm willing to put in the effort. Any advice that the wise individuals on this group could offer me?

There are some enemy class conversions on the workshop that I'll link a few at the bottom. If you wanted to do a sort of Iratus playthrough, you could install a mod that disables vanilla heroes, and add the modded enemy classes. I don't think there are many, so it could be very difficult to get useful party comps (you could also add "pseudo-enemy classes" like Veiled, Herald, Hexer, Hive, Duchess, Blackguard, Voivode, etc.).

To my understanding (a real modder correct me if I'm wrong), Darkest Dungeon does not have the capability to have size 2 or greater classes. To learn more about modding, I suggest you head over to the official Darkest Dungeon discord. There are a bunch of chill and helpful people there that could point you in the right direction for DD modding.

Also, please note that I'm not a modder, but a streamer. I only change values and such; I've created no meaningful original content (except party comp names, but that's not too hard). I've interacted with quite a few individuals in the community, however, and have picked their brains in and out of chat. Message me if you have any other questions! :praisesun:

I see. Well, I'll take a look at the discord to ask further questions. What I intend to do might be a bit ambitious, since it probably goes along the lines of what the Black reliquary did, but I want to at least have a few playable villains. Thank you for the information friend! :cozybethesda:

Np! I don't think it'll be as difficult as BR, and should be completely doable. DD modding is very user friendly with the awesome community. Good luck :8bitheart:

what do you mean you dont think there are many? 100-200 (7-10 times more than vanilla) modded classes seems like a lot to me

Enemy class conversion mods, not class mods in general. Yeah, there are tons of class mods on the workshop, but no where near as many enemy conversions -a very small subset.

No worries! I can see how it could be misunderstood :happycthulhu:
