Well, what it comes down to is persistance being key. Even if your game isn't the most popular, if you have the patience to build support for it then as the other popular games get taken off the list approved - eventually you'll find yourself at the front of the line. Granted, this assumes your game has some merit and CAN build a fan base to vote for it ;)

I find being polite in the comments section, open to suggestions, and appreciative of support helps. Ignore trolls, since arguing with them is just what they want anyhow and usually doesn't make anyone look good.
