PS2 character models found in the PC version
The PC version of FFX has the 7 party member's high poly models from the PS2 version fully rigged with the same structure and number of bones has the newer models. They have no textures and the UV maps are stretched and flipped vertically.

The original ps2 models contained 8-11 textures, the ones found on the PC version stack them on top of each other creating a single one, has seen when unstretching the UV maps

They can be found in ffx_data\ps3data\chr\pc

c811 Tidus
c812 Yuna
c813 Auron
c814 Kimahri
c815 Wakka
c816 Lulu
c817 Rikku

To find these first you need to extract FFX_Data.vbf using this: https://github.com/topher-au/VBFTool/releases

You can convert the model files to smd or ascii using this: http://forum.xentax.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=16930
Just drag and drop the files into ffx.exe

After over 3 years has something ever came from this?
The new models are the only thing stopping the remaster from being the best version.

That is actually really exciting to hear! I always had a preference for the original models, at least when it comes to the emotions of the faces. It would also be cool if there were some WIP models from one of the old builds of the HD remaster. There were models shown (links below) for Tidus and Yuna while the game was being worked on that were honestly (imo) leagues ahead of the ones that were used in the game. You can't see Tidus super well sadly, but Yuna looks flawless to me. Here is to hoping that some day we will be able to use the HD models in battle too through the power of modding.

Here are some photos of those models!
