I am certain Square has indeed noticed the varius modding groups improving on their lazy reproductions of once great games. However given that technically speaking the modders here are not breaking any laws or Square's own ToS(so far as I know) there is little they can do. Short of them proving a modder guilty of reverse engenering their games or parts of them or using copyrighted assets in an unortherised manner Square's only real recourse is to either try to block the upload of said mods to websites by contacting the website's admins or asking the modders to stop which would be making a major dick of themselves either way.
