Making Mod language of (FF3). Is it possible?
Just wondering? I would kind of like to mod this to Norwegian. Interms of dialogues and Menys and such. Just curious if its possible?

Manual translations of an entire game take a lot of time and effort. For a modder to make one there would need to be a lot of demand or motivation so I doubt you will find one. Sorry. That said this community is a little dead lately so it might not be the best place to look.

I wouldnt mind. But is there a special way to do it? I am just curious to how the process usually go for it to work. I have seen Russians making translation for FF4 being a mod. So i am just curious if it is possible to do

It requires a way to extract and insert text into the game replacing what is there at minimum. A tool to do that isn't always hard to come by. It's just the sheer amount of text there is in games like this that makes translation hard. Russian is a popular language for translation so naturally you are going to see that more often than Norwegian.

true enough point. So i take it, there is lot of work to this? and its not simple "replace text here to make it appear in game type of deal?" Well thanks though either way : D

If the tool exists then it is in fact fairly simple most times but making the tool can be an issue and then the translation takes a long time and unless you have a dedicated translator who knows both languages well and all words translate 100% from one to the other then it's gonna take a long ass time to fully translate a game.

Hmm... wish i was good at that stuff. I wanna try to translate but yeah i dont think i know how to make a tool to get it done. But sounds interesting

Well you could try looking up some modding communities. If a tool doesn't exist somebody might be willing to make one for you. Then it's only a matter of finding the right files to extract and edit before replacing. Maybe a few small steps in between. As I said once you have the tool and a little know how I wouldn't think it's actually that complicated to do. Just time consuming. Even in an old game like FF3 there would be thousands of lines of text and that's discounting all the menus and stuff. That step might be a little more difficult. Not sure about that.

Interesting. Thanks though!

Games as old as FF3 even if they have been remade usually aren't encrypted. Just compressed. So editing like this is much easier then more modern or high end games. Good luck.
