After Years text replacement mod?
Oh, cool, there's a group for modding.

Anyway, I really hate the official translation for The After Years. Between all the dull "Mm-hmm"s and Kluya referring to everyone in the world (including his brother!) as "my sons" because the translators were too lazy to look at the context, it just grates on me, as someone who's played much of the game in Japanese.

1. How tough would it be to create a mod to replace the in-game text? What sort of tools would be needed to do that?

2. Does anyone have the Japanese script to facilitate a fan translation? I can do it (or help do it, if anyone else would be interested), but would need a script to work off of, both for convenience and because I no longer have access to the PSP version of the game that I played in Japanese.

I'm not great at programming, so the actual translation part would be easier for me to do. So what I'm asking is, is it possible for someone to just... take the re-translated text and slot it in where it's supposed to go? If a re-translation existed to begin with, that is.

Hey there. I responded to your original message in the FFIV: After Years mod index. Try getting in touch with Leif. He figured out how to replace the text in FFVI which might be helpful for FFIV: After Years.

Ah, cool. Steam didn't pop up an inbox notification for your reply, so thanks.

It was Final Fantasy V (5) I figured out text replacement for, and even with that the game is incredibly picky with how you change it (a strict character count and formatting rules I don't completely understand must be followed).

I can't help with any of the others, sorry.

Ah yeah. not sure why I said VI.

Thank you for the reply! Even if you can't help, I appreciate you taking the time to say so.
