It's a grey-area, CE can allow for soft-modding, whereas in the community we mostly focus on hard-mods. That said, I mostly agree with this sentiment. While I am not going to fulfill every request as that's unreasonable to ask of me, I'll do what I can with the best ideas I see - and as such it's kind of unfair to undermine someones request by saying "use cheat engine", particularly so if you don't elaborate further into the how of it.

We're a modding community, we should be helping each other.

Hmm I personally think that making a mod that does something cheat engine can't is better (like the cheat table can't make your game uses Console Buttons Prompts). Changing garb locked ability is imo cheating so it falls into cheat engine category, while mods like CBP and XIII-2's monsters, console content patch, etc aren't cheating, but adding something extra to the game.

But of course, this is just my humble opinion haha. I respect your opinions too xD.
They're both viable, soft-mods with CE are cool at times, especially when you don't want to permanently change something in your game. The Thirteenth Ark for example, affects memory in realtime as opposed to being a hard mod. (As there's no available API for direct text input in LR, and on consoles it relied on the OS to input text there as well..)

It depends on the situation and what makes the most sense. But overall I don't think anyone here should just go "use cheat engine" if they don't like the request, it's kind of rude in my opinion. At the very least, it'd be nicer to explain to them that there's a cheat table or something that handles it already and direct them to google or something.
