I find business and success to be a better marker than popularity, outspoken opinions, or controlled polls. After all if lots of people are buying the merchandise and copies, as well as the digital copies, it points at popularity that is unsaid, and unmeasured. FF8 also sold a lot of copies but its thought of as a bad FF by the fans (but its one of the best ones imo).

I wouldn't crucify you as a matter of fact I'd agree except I do like a few more females above lightning. Altho as far as an awesome swordsman (woman) and hero she's up there. I like how she was made to be a realistic and tough, wirey female, and not wifu blow up doll.

Honestly felt a little snubbed by FF11 when it came out a long time ago, I was use to playing SP FF's with a story and a turn based battle system. Loved the old ones, and FF7, 8, 9 and 10. When 11 came out, I had an xbox, gc, and a pc, and I was playing Halo2 online with friends. Was not focused on a huge MMO no matter how much I like FF. And eventually I did pay for a PC sub to 11. Nice summons, not much else... Incredibly long and plodding gameplay, terrible stealth sequences with random duration buffs.. Really silly and basic storyline about monsters vs people and some shadow entity running it all. I only lasted 2 months before I got bored and fed up with it. I didn't even bother with 12 till recently on steam (to bad cause it turned out to be far better than expected)... So by the time FF13 came out I waited till it was a greatest hits for 20$ cause lots of people attacked it. I saw robot mounts, and gundam style stuff and figured it'd be terrible.

Turned out to be my absolute fav game on ps3 and got me back into the series. For many outspoken fans, they trash this game like its the worst. For me it was a pheonix that revived my interest in a series that abandoned turn based and the old mechanics of 7-10. FF13 is really the closest FF to the old ones we've had. And they turned turn based which was exceptional in FF10, into a full 3d beatdown. Its really the best template for the ATB system they ever created cause it felt natural. As much as I love 10, in battles people wouldn't just stand there without moving around or measuring the battle. If 13 had been a different game, without magical effects and with violence, or blood, or mutilations... Edgy gamers would of praised it as the best rpg ever made I swear to god they would.

But since FF has always been light, and about magic, friends, funny girls, and big magical evil monsters... People attacked it. People didn't like vanille, they didn't like serah, they didn't like lightning... They wanted more... I have no idea.

And what'd square do? Instead of measuring the success of sales they instead listened to toxic fans and made a bro game where everyone wears black and gets offed by bahamut.

Maybe I was wrong to get back into FF.. But 13 was awesome all 3 and I'm glad I got them all on steam. Popular or not it has a fan base and the fan base loves these games me included. Got me back into a series that I felt went way of course after the masterpiece that was FF10.

Sorry for the rant here maybe its not intended on this topic feel free and remove this post if its out of place I just really wish people would stop trying to act like this games Superman 64 when its one of the greatest rpgs I ever played.

I uninstalled 13 a long time ago but kept my save file. Just gets to a point there's nothing left to do but it is one of my fav main entries in the series. Having some new content would breath new life into it. Not sure why square has never officially released the ark expansion and made some money.

There's a mod for that? Wow might be time to redownload 13, is it really hard to install?

if the mod author of the monster mod pack is still working on it, we'll probably get fang eventually

That would be really cool, the mod packs are probably my fav mods on steam, the monster mod pack added a lot of replay for me, was more like a dlc than a mod. Caius is especially cool. Really I'd love to see a lot of crazy customs in 13-2, standing bhunivelze lol, would be nuts. But probably extremely difficult.

Of course even if he never works on mods again I still appreciate what Krisan's done it added a lot to a game that already had a lot. Work of programming art.

I would really like to see a mod where we can change the types like I'd really prefer sazh as a commando or ravager. and snow as a commando. They really messed up snow imo making him a sentinel who just stands there.

Try the arena DLC that's where I think I got mine. I think you just toss him anywhere in the arena but try throwing him off the sides. Or maybe center, been a while for me.

Also for anyone who just wants to confirm if the mods installed correctly you can find out by viewing caius in the bestiary. If one of him says recruitable then you successfully installed it.

I loved the monster mods and caius and vanille, krisans mods added more gameplay than some of the dlcs for me, my fav FF mods on steam. I wonder if 13-2 is a game that could be revisited one day as its probably my fav rpg ever made for pure gameplay. I would love to see some more characters in 13-2, like psicom from the 1st game. Altho I know these things take a lot of work but I'm a real big fan of the work that was done.

I believe they have a crystarium editor in 13, dunno if there's anything like that in 13-2. Altho I kinda do wish there was a mod to reset noel and serah's levels, as I grind for materials and monster crystals a lot and restarting them would add some more fun, and I didn't build them properly the first time through.
