Best way to learn coding for someone who lives in a place where there aren't any programming teachers?
I guess the title explains a lot, hah. I live in a small city that doesn't really have any programming classes that I could take. So I wanted to ask, what's the best thing to start from? I thought of using game maker, and I found it really fun and actually quite easy to learn (gml), but I think that gml won't really help out a lot if I want to move on with other languages.
My main targets are windows/android platforms.
I've tried learning from youtube tutorials, but I always end up with a problem, and don't find a way to fix it as the "teacher" goes on with the project without the problem.
I've heard that unity is quite good to start with, is this true? And what else can you reccommend?

I really recommend GameMaker! If you come to a point where you feel like you are stuck you can ask me :).
