Reading this, i see you created games that vary in genre. And you use the words "my long term goal is to work with a smaller group of people that is really passionate about telling stories with games" & "artistically simple (bare-bones), but well-written and thought-provoking free game". Futhermore you talk about internship without mentioning a specialization.

So i'm thinking perhaps you should focus on the story-writing side in stead of software-writing or picture/sound-art sides. And maybe you can form a wellrounded team with your fellow students to create a game together. The companies also want to know you can work well together with other Ppl.
